Resource Room Teacher, Grades 5-8 – Hermon Middle School

Candidates must possess or be eligible for Maine Department of Education Teacher certification (endorsement 282) and Criminal History Record Check (CHRC) certification.

Wilson Reading / Orton-Gillingham training, preferred.

Office Secretary – Hermon High School

School year position,  plus 2 weeks before start of and 2 weeks after end of school year

Hermon High School seeks a professional and motivated individual to join our office staff. This secretarial position is in direct support of the Assistant Principal and includes the tasks necessary for the efficient operation of the school including:

  • daily attendance
  • arranging for substitute coverage
  • word processing
  • front counter
  • facility use scheduling
  • other duties as assigned

The successful candidate should have a good rapport with teenagers, faculty, and parents, enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, and be able to multitask. Google Suite and Powerschool experience a plus.

MDOE Criminal History Records Check required once employed.

Candidates must possess or be eligible for Maine Department of Education Teacher certification (endorsement 020 General Elementary) and Criminal History Record Check (CHRC) certification.

Job Summary:

  • Engage students in meaningful learning experiences.
  • Differentiate instruction in order to reach all learners.
  • Evaluate with valid instruments and record and report student progress on a timely basis.
  • Contact students and parents regarding student progress.
  • Provide extra assistance to students who need additional instruction.
  • Assist in supervision of students and student activities outside the academic classroom as assigned.
  • Provide students with course expectations at the beginning of the year.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of multiple pedagogical approaches.

Substitute Teacher Openings
Hermon School Department is seeking substitute teachers for the 2018-2019 school year who have the ability to work positively with staff, and students. Candidates should possess strong oral and written communication skills, organizational and interpersonal skills, and be dedicated to meeting the academic and social needs of each child.

Candidates must hold current CHRC authorization through State of Maine Department of Education.

This is a substitute position. This position does not provide benefits.
