School Closure Update
Dear Students, Parents/Guardians, and Community Members,
In the State of Emergency announcement on March 15th, Governor Janet Mills recommended that we close our schools for 30 days, which would take us to April 13th. At a meeting yesterday, the Penquis Superintendents’ Association unanimously recommended that all school districts in our region continue with remote learning days through April 17th, then break for April Vacation from April 20th to April 24th.
Due to the rise of COVID-19 cases in our area and based on the recommendations I am hearing from several important groups, I am extending the use of remote learning days in all Hermon Schools through Friday April 17th.
At this time, my goal is to reopen schools on Monday, April 27th. The decision to reopen will be based on the recommendations of the Governor, the Maine Department of Education, the CDC, the regional superintendents group, and our Hermon Leadership Team.
We will persevere!
Sincerely,
Gary J. Gonyar
